About this record
Shani Louk, a 22-year-old tattoo artist with German and Israeli citizenship, was at the Nova music festival near Re'im when it was attacked on the morning of October 7, 2023. She was killed, and her body was taken into Gaza in the back of a pickup truck, where it was paraded through the streets.
The footage of her body became one of the first images of the attack seen around the world, and her family appealed publicly for information about her in the days that followed. Her death was confirmed at the end of October 2023, and her body was recovered by Israeli forces in Gaza in May 2024.
Bodies of people killed at the Nova festival were among those taken into Gaza that day, to be held as leverage.
