Armed Gazans film themselves shooting the already dead bodies of unarmed Israelis

On October 7, 2023, thousands of armed men crossed from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel. Alongside members of Hamas's military wing came fighters from other armed groups and residents of Gaza who poured through the breached border fence after the first assault. Many of them carried phones and filmed what they did.

These two clips were recorded by the gunmen themselves. In them, armed men fire into the bodies of Israelis who were unarmed and already dead. Shooting at the dead served no military purpose. Like the abuse and mutilation of bodies seen in other footage from that day, it was done in front of the camera, and the recordings were made to be shared.

Footage of this kind was later used by Israeli investigators, together with forensic evidence, to establish what happened in the communities and at the festival site attacked that morning.
